[PDF] IS Codes for Civil Engineering- Download PDF

Civil Engineering is the oldest and one of the core branches of engineering. Civil engineers across the globe have built some amazing structures from small houses to Burj Khalifa the tallest building in the world.

But constructing in different parts of the globe is not the same task, due to the environmental conditions such as too cold, too heat, moisture levels and deserted area, mountain terrain, too rainy area.

Carrying out construction in such different conditions requires different kind of materials and standards. Each county has its own standards according to their local conditions like India has IS Codes, US has ASTM Codes.

So here in this post we will have all the IS codes for civil engineering listed here, you can get list of IS codes for civil engineering pdf.

We have gathered links to the PDF of IS codes required for civil engineering at one place.

IS Code for Civil Engineering Drawing

IS 962:1989 : Indian standard code for practice for architectural and building drawing.

Revised in 1989, this code sets standards for the layout, sizes, reproduction, folding of prints, scales, projection line work, lettering and dimensioning, symbols for graphical representation, representation of different materials, the numbering of buildings, and elements of buildings, designations of rooms, bath, WC, kitchen and all other elements of buildings.

This code requires some adjustments and those adjustments are given in different IS codes.

IS Code for Reinforced Concrete Structures

IS 456:2000 : Indian standard code for Reinforced Concrete Structures

This code sets standards from batching, mixing, placing to the curing of reinforced concrete structures. The working stress method is ignored in the latest revision and preference is given to the limit state method as it overcomes the limitations of the working stress method. Annex-B a small part at the end is provided for the working stress method.

The code also explains all the loads coming over the structures, the behavior of the structure on the action of these loads, and the design of RCC structures under these loads.
